Springtime in The Rockies

I was greeted early this morning by high winds causing my roof to creak and moan. Whenever a new front comes through the wind blows off the lake near my house. It does not normally bring any weather to speak of but it will always brings either colder or warmer temperatures.

I have lived in the mountains of Colorado for the past 35 years and have never remembered the wind blowing so hard. I lived in Golden for a couple of years and the wind never stopped blowing there. It was part of every day but here in the mountains it always seemed as though the wind would blow over us and never on us. I could always watch the snow blowing off the Gore Range or the Continental Divide with wide long wisps of snow that would sometimes seem to be miles long but never here in the valley.

I guess I have become my father and my grandfather now telling old man weather stories. g
