I Will Be 103

On NPR over the weekend I heard an interview about the progression of knowledge.

Right now the amount of knowledge is doubling every year. This time next year we will have at our doorstep twice as much knowledge as we do this year.

A big part of that is the progression of digital information. We can shove more information into a smaller space and then extract it at a faster pace than ever before.

The commentator was talking about how, in 2045, medicine will have progressed to the point where no one will ever die. We will have conquered all of the known diseases and figured out how to repair defective and broken parts to the point that we will live for eternity.

That might be the up side for many but in 2045 I will be 103 years old. Imagine spending eternity in a 103 year old body. Not a pretty sight.
