Someone once said that statistics never lie but liars use statistics.

You can trust the numbers but you should never trust the person who is giving you the numbers.

It really depends on who is paying the person and the message they want to convey.

How many of you believe that there is one Christian religion? There are many religions that consider themselves to be Christian but not all Christians ascribe to them. I had a student ask me this week if Catholics were part of a cult. Of course they are not but many believe they are.

This morning some radical Muslims blew up a mosque in Pakistan. Muslims killing Muslims. Suicide bombers with machine guns and hand grenades. They killed 40 people in the first report. Is there one Muslim religion? Of course not. Do all Muslims ascribe to blowing up mosques and killing fellow Muslims? Never.

The new unemployment numbers were released this morning. The unemployment rate is going down. Things are getting better.

But consider this.

Unemployment numbers are based on the number of people collecting benefits and not the number of people without jobs. If your benefits have run out and you still don't have a job you are no longer considered to be unemployed. Ain't life fun?

Be careful out there.

It is a slippery slope when it comes to religion and politics and unemployment numbers.
